Hello there!

Happy new month and thank you for passing by. This is the last post for our series and we will be hosting Ancillar who blogs at this site that you definitely have to check out and follow. As I wrap up the series, I hope that when its all been said, you will know that you don’t have to do this alone. You’ll always have a shoulder to lean on and talk to in me and those around you who love and care for you.

Sending you all big hugs. Over to Anci…

Dear Humans,
I may not be important to you or your favourite influencer *not an influencer *, but time’s upon us being quiet when this is hitting really close to home .

By now, we all have seen the hashtag #MentalHealthMatters and in case you missed the memo we are on the battlefield fighting for sanity against depression and anxiety.
Depression is that slimy monster that creeps on you unaware and that monster doesn’t discriminate. We tend as human beings to believe that depression only affects the weak, the troubled and the lonely. Nobody wants to believe that it can affect the strong ones, the smart ones and the achievers. Here’s a refresher course in mental health :

1. Depression does not discriminate. It can affect anyone

2. Struggling with depression does not make you weak

3. Telling someone to snap out of it is a toxic person behaviour

I hope that puts things into perspective for you. Every day is a battle and every day WE WIN. At this point in time, your job description doesn’t matter, your bank balance doesn’t matter and neither does your style. What matters is that you recognize you need help, you are not ashamed to ask for help and that you continue to press on.

At the end of the day, I love and respect you —you acknowledge your strength, fears and shortcomings. While I still got you, don’t forget to check on your strong friends, your neighbours and yourself

With all of that said, Mental health matters.

Cheers
