This book is for brilliant women like you. I wrote it so that you can move forward in pursuing whatever calls to you, so that your greater gifts find expression. I wrote it because I am tired of meeting women who have important messages to share but whose self doubt is keeping them quiet. I am tired of encountering woman after woman deluded by the myth that she needs to be more something – more qualified, more prepared, more expert – than she is in order to share her ideas… I wrote this book because I want the world to be changed by you.

Excerpt from Playing Big – Tara Mohr

Written out of a frustration, Tara Mohr seeks to address some of the key themes that plague women’s success in the corporate and social field. Themes of fear, the inner critic, hooking onto praise and criticism as well as playing the ‘good girl’.

Tara provides statistics and evidence from some of her clients to prove the immobility that is caused as a result of fear or the resounding inner critic creating an aura of deception that grips women whenever they consider playing big or being great. Each chapter explores the problem or her observation and suggests an alternative and tools that can be used to overcome the problem.

I loved that each chapter had journaling prompts that enabled me to explore some of the reasons I talk myself out of pursuing my dreams or reaching for greater.

I would definitely recommend this book to all the women who have dreams that they have been shoving to the back because of fear or uncertainty. The time will never be right to pursue some of these dreams but taking a leap into the unknown is part of playing big.
