Rudo’s anthology of short stories is one that will unquestionably make you want to read more of these.

Set mostly in 1965 Zimbabwe to date, Rudo explores stories of tribal wars, loss, love and modern day living with its perks.

I loved that she uses her name as characters in the book which makes it even more relatable. (Definitely giving Issa Rae and Insecure vibes).

My favorite short stories were 1965 and Pamushana. I loved 1965 because Rudo’s narration of life under colonial rule in Zimbabwe with cross racial marriages was exhilarating. Pamushana was my favorite love story in this anthology because two lovers separated by tribal wars are brought back together through their descendants. Cheesy right?

Chipo broke me! I won’t lie. The scares of Sunday morning love in a marriage turning into dark gray clouds of death was just… gut wrenching. Sad that these are the realities of life.

I’ve been on a reading hiatus and I’m glad I got out of it with these short stories.

Let me know what you thought of the book in case you have already read it!

Also, you can reach out to the author on her social media platforms to get a copy of the book.
